Modesto Paintball Hydrotesting Process

When you bring your high-pressure air tank to us for re-hydro testing it includes the following:

Tank Regulator Removal.
Air Tank Re-qualification.
Visual inspection.
Full regulator service with O-ring replacement if available (for an additional $5.00).
Re-installation of tank regulator.

What is Hydrotesting?

Hydro Testing, or Hydrostatic testing ensures your air tank can be safely refilled and stored.
Why do I need to Hydro Test my tank?

Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations require pressurized air tanks to be retested every 5 years. Having you Paintball air tank hydrotested also ensures that your tank is safe to fill to the pressures that it was originally certified for. If your tank shows any damage to the tank itself, it is important to have it tested and verify that it is still safe to use.
Do I need to have my tank tested?

If your paintball air tank is 5 years or older, you more than likely will need to have it retested. Carbon fiber air tanks, or fiber wrapped tanks are required to be rehydro tested every 5 years and have a 15-year life span. Aluminum tank hydrotesting needs to be done every 5 years however these tanks can continue to be retested until they fail.
Is it worth it to have my tank hydro tested?

Carbon fiber tank hydrotesting is typically worth it if the tank is not at the end of its life, and it is in good visual and working condition. Aluminum tank hydrotesting might be as expensive as purchasing a new air tank, so it is important to evaluate the cost of a new tank vs having an older aluminum or steal tank retested. CO2 tank rehydro is almost never worth it when it comes to paintball Co2 tanks, having the tank tested will cost more than purchasing a new tank and many places do not test Co2 tanks. Is my air tank able to be retested?

Paintball air tanks can be retested as long as they are within their 15 year lifespan for carbon fiber tanks, do not show visible damage to the fiber wrapping of the tank or severe damage to the aluminum (cracked gel coating on paintball tanks are normal and does not disqualify a tank). Airsoft air tank rehydro can also be done. If you have any questions about our Extreme Rehydro Services or concerns about if your tank can be retested, feel free to call us or stop in.
What if my tank doesn’t pass the Rehydro test?

The test fee is not refundable as it is paid to a 3rd party, so regardless of the outcome the $35 fee is paid upfront and cannot be returned.
